Kaijin Shrine,

Oumi no Sato

The Kaijin Shrine has heavy stone steps extending to the top of the mountain, with the majestic shrine built on top of the mountain. The shrine faces the sea, and it is said that it was built to pray for the safety of ocean travelers since ancient times.

The area overlooking the Kaijin Shrine was a scenic area with terraced fields up until about 10 years ago, but the abandoned farmland has become prominent in recent times. These days we are working diligently to regain the beautiful scenery this area once had. Please don't be disappointed that there are no giant Buddha statues here, and searching for the Sakai Family’s Mansion is futile.
